Apricot wins "Best Fruit Wine"!
Breitenbach Wine Cellars of Dover, Ohio recently won numerous medals in the Ohio Wine Competition. Breitenbach Apricot won “Best of Show for Fruit Wine”. Breitenbach Wine Cellars is one of the first wineries to make wines made from natural fruit. The winery has been producing natural fruit wines for 28 years. Breitenbach makes 15 different fruit and berry wines.
Breitenbach Frost Fire, a sweet white wine, won a concordance gold. This medal is reserved for only 5% of the total wines entered. Breitenbach wines winning silver medals were Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Red Raspberry. Shiraz has a slight peppery flavor with notes of cherry. Chardonnay, a Lake Erie vintage, is aged in stainless steel and has a clean finish. Red Raspberry, a sweet dessert wine, has the characteristics of fresh fruit juice.
Breitenbach wines winning bronze medals were Roadhouse Red, Tawny Port and Solara Cream Sherry.
The definition for a bronze medal is a well-made wine that has good varietal character, quality and style. A silver medal is awarded to a wine that is extremely well crafted and shows beautiful balance and varietal character. And a gold medal is reserved for a wine exhibiting perfect varietal character, balance and structure, and containing exceptional qualities and complexities.
